If you have an area that is showing signs of damp a quotation for that area only can be carried out and a quotation detailing the treatment to be given.

This is not a full inspection of the property, it is only to the area(s) pointed out by the Client.

Full Damp Inspection of the Property

A full damp inspection takes approximately 1-1.5 hours to carry out for a normal sized three bedroom property. There is a charge for this type of inspection.

The inspection will involve an external inspection to check brickwork and pointing at low level along with checking the ground levels to make sure the external ground is not bridging the DPC.

A visual inspection from ground level of the roof coverings will take place to check no defects of the slates, tiles or lead flashings are giving cause for concern and allowing moisture to enter the property from the roof area.

The internal inspection will check all accessible ground floor and upper floor walls for signs of damp.

We use an electronic moisture meter against the walls and readings are taken at increments vertically up the walls to ascertain if any damp is present.

Rising damp generally only rises to approx. 1.2m maximum.

This inspection will inform the surveyor whether true rising damp is occurring or whether the damp is caused by another source e.g. penetrating damp, blocked cavities etc.
